Lithium aluminium hydride nature and structure
Lithium aluminium hydride is white or off-white crystalline powder, stable in dry air, moist air hydrolysis and cause combustion, soluble in diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran and the like in an organic solvent; may aldehydes and ketones, acids, anhydrides, esters, quinones, acid chloride other reduced to an alcohol, a primary amine reduction of the nitrile, the halogenated hydrocarbon is a hydrocarbon reduction; but usually not the carbon - carbon double bonds hydrogenated.

Its cell parameters: a = 4.82, b = 7.81, c = 7.92 Å, α = γ = 90 ° and β = 112 °. At high pressure (> 2.2 GPa), the lithium aluminum hydride phase transition occurs, a β-LiAlH4.
